EU RoHS/ELV Compliance Definitions
End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC requires that certain automotive products be free (except for trace impurities) of mercury, cadmium and lead as of 2003-7-1. Lead can still be used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum and in solderable applications. These products comply with the ELV directive.
EU RoHS Compliant
Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC requires that certain electrical and electronic products be free (except for trace impurities) of mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and lead as of 2006-7-1. Certain exemptions are allowed such as lead used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum. These products comply with the EU RoHS directive. These products also comply with the ELV directive. Note that as of July 1, 2008 products that are shown as RoHS compliant do not contain decabromodiphenyl ether.
EU RoHS/Not ELV Compliant
These products comply with the Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC but NOT the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC. These products utilize exemptions in the EU RoHS Directive that are not allowed in the ELV Directive. Typical examples are lead in compliant pin connector systems (pressfit connectors) and cadmium in electrical contacts.
5 of 6 EU RoHS/ELV Compliant
These products comply with the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC but due to lead in the solderable interface do NOT comply with the Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC. However, these products may be suitable for use in EU RoHS applications where there is a product based exemption for lead in solders, such as the server, storage, or network infrastructure exemption.
Not ELV or EU RoHS Compliant
These products do not comply with the Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC or the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC. This means that these products contain lead or other materials that are restricted in these directives. Consequently, they SHOULD NOT be used in any application requiring EU RoHS or ELV compliance.
Not Reviewed for EU RoHS/ELV Compliance
These products have not yet been reviewed for EU RoHS/ELV compliance.
Not in Scope of EU RoHS, ELV or EU RoHS/ELV Directives
These are products that TE Connectivity (TE) considers to be outside Scope of the Directive indicated. These typically would be products that are not electrical or electronic in nature nor would be used in electrical/electronic equipment covered by these Directives. Customers should verify this assessment prior to use.
Customer Controlled - ELV/EU RoHS Compliance unknown
These products have not been reviewed for EU RoHS/ELV compliance.
China RoHS - Environmental Protection Use Period (EPUP) Symbol
No hazardous material over threshold of SJ/T 11363-2006 standard - China's Requirements for Concentration Limits for Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic Information Products.
Hazardous material exists over the threshold of SJ/T 11363-2006 standard. Number shown in the center of the symbol indicates the Environmental Protection Use Period as defined by SJ/T11363-2006 - China's Marking for Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products. Note is an example only. EPUP values may vary by product family/part.
